Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies are various forms of access control that are used to restrict usage of proprietary hardware and copyrighted works, developed in response to the rapid increase of online piracy of commercial products.

They are designed to prevent you from copying or sharing media content, such as songs, or software, such as videogames or Adobe, with other people or devices, in order to protect the rights of the copyright holder and ensure their work is not used without proper compensation or permission.
